Outline of Final Research Achievements

My studies pointed that representation of gender and sexuality in modern Japanese literature often makes power relations invisible, and distort image of 'Others' in order to adapt to the norms of cultural intelligibility. They connect to the formation of historical perception and collective.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

研究成果から、ジェンダーやセクシュアリティの観点のみのアプローチでは、戦争をめぐる文化政治の問題群を捉えきれないことが見えてきた。文学に描かれた女性表象や異性愛規範、セクシュアリティが物語上どのような機能を果たし、他者表象に関与するのか、そしてそれらがどのような歴史認識や集合的記憶の再生産と関わるのかというアプローチが重要である。この方法は、今日のさまざまな文化政治と文学の考察にも応用できるものであり、学術的社会的に意義のあるものである。
