Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study aimed at critically analyzing works of the Haikai during the Kyoho and the Horeki eras. This resulted in the publishing of annotations of six Kasen, and also shed light on how Haikai in these two eras grew apart from Basho’s Karumi. In addition, the researchers published a reprint of “Azumaburi” with annotation and analysis. We raised a critical question about how this work, while aimed at following Basho, failed to include some significant concepts, due to factors specific to that era. Lastly, we did a comprehensive examination of books on Haikai in the Hoei and the Shotoku eras, and then published this analysis as “Haijin Taikan”.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
