In this study, focusing on works of African Caribbean writers from ex-British colonies, I examine how effectively the middle-class-Victorian values have contributed to colonization. Especially, I explore the functions of mothers in the middle classes of the Anglophone Caribbean countries.

イギリス植民地であったカリブ海地域の文学に焦点を当て、イギリス本国では遠い過去のものとされる価値観が、植民地においては温存され続け、歴史的にみても、被植民者の内的支配に関して大きな役割を果たしてきたことを今回の研究で解き明すことができたのは、非常に学術的かつ、社会的にも意義が高いことであり、世界的にみても独創的な研究に位置付けられると判断する。
