Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study is intended to clarify the driving force of the modernization of Chinese writing language in early 20th century China, especially from the viewpoint of the international network of Chinese intellectuals. The main focus of this study are (1) Hu Shih and Ren Hongjun from the younger generation, and (2) Zhang Binglin and Wang Guowei from the older generation. We found that there was a cross-border intellectual network among Chinese students, and that the new generation was greatly influenced by the studies of the old generation. In particular, the "rennet rennet" published by Hu in 1917 is said to have been the starting point of the literary revolution. He pointed out that this essay inherited the innovative aspects of Sho Byung-rin and Kunifumi.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
