Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In the Generative Grammar tradition, comparative syntax has been focused intensively for a long time, while it has been not much discussed in the Construction Grammar developed in the field of Cognitive Linguistics. This research, as a case study, conducted a comparison with respect to basic argument structure constructions (intransitive construction, intransitive motion construction, transitive construction, ditransitive construction) in German, English and Japanese from a Cognitive Construction Grammar perspective. As a result, it became clear that the differences in these languages can be attributed to the fundamental tendencies observable in each language.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
