Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Epistemic modality forms are polysemous words that not only express the judgment as to whether a proposition is true or false, but also describe the way of presenting information. The motivation for this semantic extension is the objectification of the subjects involved in the contents represented in these forms. When the contents of these forms express the truth of proposition, the conceptualizers who make the judgment are construed subjectively. On the other hand, when they describe information in discourse, the conceptualizers are construed objectively to be considered as an independent entity from the speaker. In this semantic extension, properties of each form as epistemic modality are mapping into those of the usage expressing the way to present information.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
