| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
For clarification of the characteristics of LINE conversation, we analyzed the Japanese used in LINE. The results were as follows. Firstly, though LINE conversation is a conversation in word from, people use LINE as if it were verbal communication. One of the main characteristics of LINE conversation is that it is a recorded communication, such as using backchannels and interjections eg.‘ a あ’ the same way as verbal conversation. Secondly people use emoji and stamps for adding emotion to their word conversation. Japanese tend to use emoji and stamps more than Chinese and Koreans.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
LINEなどのソーシャルネットワークサービスに代表される新しい社会的ネットワーク構築システムは、急速にグローバル化する社会において人間関係を築く重要なツールとされる。これらのツールの中でもLINEは留学生にとって日常のコミュニケーションで欠くことのできないものとなっている。本研究では日本語母語話者同士、留学生同士及び母語話者と留学生とのLINEでのやり取りで使用される日本語に着目し、会話分析及びマルチモーダルアプローチの観点から、インターネット上の新たなコミュニケーションスタイルの実態を明らかにし、多文化間コミュニケーションの新たな可能性の一端を示すことができた。
