| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study aimed to design a curriculum to integrate international education and primary English education for teacher training. The outcomes are based on data collected in the field research at Summerhill School of which educational principles include development of (global) citizenship, one of the ultimate goals of international education as well as lesson study at Minami-Alps Children's Village elementary school, a sister school of Summerhill in Japan. The outcomes include the following six points; 1) publishing one academic article, 2) presentations at seven academic conferences, 3) publishing a book which include a curriculum and activity plans for elementary school teachers, 4) three presentations at study meetings, 5) holding workshops and open lectures (four in total), 6) publishing three articles for English education magazines.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
2016年10月のSummerhill Schoolでの調査では、国際理解教育の基盤である民主主義を教育理念とした教育実践を直接見聞し大変重要な示唆を得た。その教育理念を実践している南アルプス子どもの村小学校での3年にわたる授業研究は質的研究手法を用いた。現在の小学校英語教育では、地球市民として世界のためにアクションを起こすという意識を高めるような授業が普及しているとはいえない。本研究の学術的・社会的意義は、その具体的な実践手法の提示とその意義の共有、及び子どもたち一人一人の変容を追跡する質的授業研究の手法を公開・共有し、教師教育の一手段として提示できたことである。
