Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In order to explore East Asian ritual cultures from a comparative perspective, this study focuses on “catalogues of articles,” which are sources that list names and quantities of material objects. By analyzing how “catalogues of articles” were used in different ritual stages, I argue that this kind of source has potential to reveal concrete ritual aspects from periods and regions in which few written sources are available. Additionally, as part of this comparative study of rituals, I have examined written evidence engraved on metal and stone, such as Tomb inscriptions (boshi), while advancing research on funeral rituals focused on mogari (bin 殯 ). Through presenting and publishing academic papers, I widely shared such new findings in Japan, China, Korea and Taiwan.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
