Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
My research this year focused on mechanisms to facilitate business to consumer transactions in the EU. At the center of concern was the quality of legal certainty and its impact on the complexity of legal transactions. Taking a look at various jurisdictions in the EU I found out that the EU Member States understand and interpret legal certainty in various ways. They range from clarity to foreseeability, enforceability to usability of legal norms. Based on the results I invited colleagues to add comments on legal certainty and its implications in particular for the EU. We collected the expertise and signed a book contract with Hart Publishing.
