Outline of Final Research Achievements

The crisis of earth system such as climate change is one of super wicked problems (collective behavior problems). This study classifies several types of responses to the crisis and focuses upon the politics of anti-reflexivity such as climate change denial movement that tends to under-estimate risk.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

気候変動を地球システムの全般的危機と捉え、それについての政治的解決を模索した著作、論文は膨大な数になる。二酸化炭素の大量排出による地球温暖化を含め、人類が不可逆的な地質学的影響力を行使するようになっている事態を受けて、新しい地質的年代を指すの「人新世(anthropocene)」という用語に言及した論文だけでも三千以上にのぼるが、その人新世という用語のインプリケーションをめぐっては、ジオ・エンジニアリングの可能性を含めた楽観論から、地球史上六回目の大量絶滅の危機をよみとる悲観論まで、さまざまな意見が飛び交い百家争鳴の感がある。本研究は、その混沌とした状況を整理し思想的な見取り図を提示した。
