| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this research, I analyzed thinkers of French Third Republic, such as Gobineau, Firmin, Sighele, Fournial and Le Bon. As a result, I emphasized two points: first, it was scientific racism that justified incoherent behaviour between national integration and colonialism; second, it was transformed into crowd theory at the end of 19th century and combined with 20th century French nationalism.

「単一にして不可分の共和国」という大革命以来のフランス共和主義の理念が現実に定着を見るのは第三共和政期であり、その意味でこの時期のさまざまな思想潮流の検討は共和主義の理解に欠かせないが、共和主義、ナショナリズム、レイシズム、群衆論といったさまざまな思想的系譜を一貫したパースペクティブのもとに位置づけ、現実政治の動きとの関連で把握した点に本研究の学術的意義を認めることができる。
