| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Based on a real women entrepreneurs in Japan, this study explores the extent to which different institutional arrangements affect female entrepreneurial venture perfoemance. We scrutinize the complex interplay among supportive institutional emvironments, entrepreneurial cognitions and entrepreneurial success. The findings of our structural equation modelling indicate that women's entrepreneurial self-efficacy in strong and usful mediator of the effect of informal institutional support on venture performance. Our study proposes that perceived social legitimacy may lead to increased entrepreneurial self-efficacy, thereby enhancing venture performance. This findings can clarify the institutional force pathways to foster entrepreneurial confidence. Further more this study will shed light on Japanese context and women entrepreneurs, and provide some usful information to improve formal support programs for women's entrepreneurship.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究は、女性起業家研究の分野において、日本の女性起業家をサンプルとしたデータを用いた分析を行った点で、意義があるといえる。特に、日本の女性起業家を取り巻くコンテクストや女性への起業支援の実態を踏まえ、日本の女性の起業家活動の成果に影響を与える外的要因について分析した研究は、今まで類を見ない。
社会的意義としては、日本政府が掲げる「女性活躍支援」の一環として実施されている女性起業家支援政策について、女性起業家への調査データに基づき、従来の男性起業家への支援策とは異なる対応が必要であり、社会全体として女性の起業に対する認知を高めていくことが重要である点を示唆できたことが挙げられる。
