We surveyed public opinion in Japan and the U.S.A. and compared perceptions such as political interest or government trust. We especially focused on methods for cross-cultural comparison.
For deliberate comparison between countries of different language and culture we tried some new ideas. They relates to questionnaire construction and translation, adjustment to the different response styles, and ways for analyzing survey. Our ideas can be used for questionnaire surveys in many fields like education and health care.
