| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Many children of Brazilians living in Japan will not return to Brazil, but will live in Japan. Therefore, it is important that a fulfilling learning environment be guaranteed during the school years in order to stabilize life in Japan. In this process, cooperation between school and home plays a major role. Brazilian parents appreciate the fact that the schools teach their children the Japanese language and other things necessary for life in Japan. On the other hand, they do not understand the Japanese education system and are concerned about their children's career paths. However, due to the language barrier, they are unable to fully discuss their concerns with their children's teachers. Therefore, in the future, support will be required to provide parents with multilingual support and to inform them of the Japanese educational system.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
ブラジル人学校の保護者調査からは、「公立学校では言語の壁があり、十分な相談ができない」ため、ブラジル人学校が選択される事情が明らかになった。しかし、ブラジル人学校の教師調査からは、家庭との連携の難しさが示された。このことから、言語や学校文化の壁が乗り越えられれば、学校と家庭の連携が進むという単純な構造ではないことがわかる。ブラジル人の子どもの学びを支えるためには、子どもの将来を見据え、そのなかでどのような形で教育機会を確保していくのかについて、教師と保護者が共通認識を持ち、学校と家庭の両輪で支援していくことが重要だといえる。この知見は、研究面でも実践面でも意義があると捉えられる。
