| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This program confirmed a gradual increase of the oral proficiency of the participants, although English oral communication skills did not dramatically improve: for example, on the OPIc in 2017, a 12% increase of the scores was observed. All the participants were also able to find their best-fit strategies through this project, using metacognitive strategies, in particular through collaborative learning. Although the usefulness of this Strategying Model was partly confirmed, we have also recognized that further improvement of the model is necessary. In the globalized world, strategies and the model to improve oral communication skills in Japan without study abroad are expected to become increasingly important in the future.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
英語を話す・聞く能力は重要であることは誰もが認めるところだが、一方で留学をすることなく国内でその能力伸張を実現することは国家的課題である。今回のプロジェクトを通してどのように学ぶのかというメタ認知方略（計画・実行・観察・修正）の活用とともに協働学習を通して他者からその方法を学びながら学習意欲を高めることの重要性が確認できた。学習スタイルに関しては内向性特性を持った学習者はこれまで使ってこなかった協働学習の利点を利用できたが、外向特性を持った学習者は個人学習に取り組む方法を発見できなかった。プロジェクトの成果として緩やかだが話す能力の伸張が観察された。
