Re-interpretation of famous teaching materials (mainly taken up "Tsurezure gusa" and "Uji shui monogatari") was tried to contribute to building of the class of the new classical Japanese from the angle as "laugh".

『徒然草』における仁和寺僧関連章段を中心に、当該章段が様々な手法によって、実験的に構成されていることを明らかにしつつ、その成果を前提に、「笑い」という視点から新たな章段解釈を提示した。また、古代・中世は迷信の時代と児童・学生は捉えがちであるが、『宇治拾遺物語』から、神仏の指示やご利益に、人間の合理性から疑問を示す説話を分析したが、これは自ら考える力を育成する教材の基礎的研究である。
