Outline of Final Research Achievements

Geometrical symmetry is enhanced near horizon region of maximally rotating black holes. New physical phenomena caused by light rays and cosmic strings are proposed in that region.
First, there exist bound orbits of light rays that approach to the event horizon of maximally rotating black holes. The expansion of their congruence vanishes in that case. Furthermore, the polarization vectors rotate along the light orbits.
Secondly, there are two types of solutions that represent rigidly rotating cosmic strings: string connects a black hole horizon and infinity; string confined in a finite region near a black hole. Chaotic behaviors appear in the latter case.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

最大回転ブラックホールのホライズンに漸近する束縛軌道の光線束は断面が広がらない.これは,この光線がもたらす像が暗くならないことを意味し,観測可能性を強く示唆している.さらに,偏光ベクトルの光線に沿った回転効果は,回転ブラックホールの幾何学的性質の情報をもたらす.これらは,ブラックホール シャドウの撮像などの観測的研究に対して重要な意味をもつと考えられる.
また,コスミック・ストリングの最終状態として,ブラックホールにストリングがピン止めされたり,ブラックホールの周りの有界領域に束縛されたりすることを予言しており,コスミック・ストリングの探索に重要な手掛かりを与える.
