Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
We continued to build up methods to study superfluid systems consisting of small-vortex numbers that are chaotic. We found methods to introduce chaotic dynamics in a controllable and experimentally accessible way and in doing this are developing a deeper understanding of chaos in vortex systems. We have studied how condensate size and vortex-vortex interactions influence the degree of chaos in confined Bose-Einstein condensates. We have come up with methods to scale our techniques up to larger condensate sizes which will be the subject of future work. We have discussed these results with the international research community are preparing a manuscript for publication to communicate these findings.
