Restoration aimed to return the building to its original form. Using analysis of the Statement of Accounts of Restoration Work, the present report clarifies that the original form did not change during later reconstructions.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究は、古社寺保存法時代に特別保護建造物が設計変更により、当初形式に復原されているわけでなく、建設の年代と形式が複合したものになっていることを実証した。設計変更に関する建築史基礎資料を集成することは、当初形式を復原的に考察を加えることを可能にする。日本建築は根本修理が200年周期といわれ、本研究は今後における再修理に備えて有益な情報を提供することで、文化財建造物の保護に寄与するものと考えられる。
