Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We have developed a positron-emitting cesium tracer and realized non-destructive imaging of cesium dynamics in living animals and plants. First, we have established a method to produce and purify positron-emitting radionuclide, Cs-127 (half-life: 6.25 h). Next, we administered Cs-127 tracer to plants and analyzed the cesium kinetics in various plants using the Plant Research Positron Emission Imaging System (PETIS). Furthermore, we administered Cs-127 tracer to living animals and successfully visualized the cesium dynamics using positron emission tomography (PET).

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
