Outline of Final Research Achievements

Cellular functions and molecular distribution of TRPV1-related molecules, which are known as the key molecule for central osomolality sensing. mRNAs for TRPV1_SON and TRPV1 were both expressed in the ventral vasopressin-neuron region of the supraoptic nucleus. When expressed in HEK293 cells either alone or in combination with TRPV1, TRPV1_SON did not show s response to osmolality increase.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

ほ乳類、鳥類における体液浸透圧、体液量調節機構は多くのこれら動物種が水から離れて生活するため、極めて精巧であり、全体重の約60~70%と膨大な容積を占める大量の水とその浸透圧を±数%以内で制御している。体液浸透圧の増加を中枢神経系がどのような機構で感知しているかについては現在で不明であるが、その候補分子として新規に発見されたTPRV1_SONの脳内分布と機能を解析した。今回の研究でTPRV1_SONは検索した全ての組織でTRPV1と共発現していたが、単独でもTPRV1との共発現においても浸透圧感知機能を示さなかった。TRPV1が浸透圧感知分子ある可能性が示唆された。
