| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Venous thromboembolism (VTE)which includes deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) is a serious complication associated with gynecologic surgery. The aim of the present study was to determine whether new propylaxis (PROVEN study 3) for VTE without preoperative DVT screeningis useful during gynecological surgery. Five hundred twenty-one women were undergoing gynecological surgery. There was no clinical onset of postoperative VTE in all 521 patients. PROVEN study 3 seem to be useful for after gynecologic surgery.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
婦人科周術期におけるVTE予防に関する過去の報告では、術前にDVTのスクリーニングを行うものがほとんどであり、術前のVTEリスク因子と抗凝固療法の除外基準を明確にしたPROVEN study3のような周術期VTE予防のプログラムは、現在まで報告がない。PROVEN study3の結果により、周術期に抗凝固療法が必要な患者と不要な患者の抽出が可能となり、さらに術前DVTのスクリーニングも不要のため、どのような施設においても簡便かつ安全な抗凝固療法が行えるようになるため、抗凝固療法がさらに普及し、周術期の致死的VTEを減少させることが可能になると考える。
