Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Although the stress of patients undergoing operation has been improved by progress of surgical technology, there are no reports about the evaluation of the surgeon’s stress during operations. The purpose of this study is to estimate stress of surgeons who participates in operations objectively using physiological and biochemical methods. The salivary amylase activity after operations were significantly increased by biochemical methods. But the individual stress seems to depend on the age, the character, experience of operation and physical condition. Therefore, further storage of measurement and analysis are needed. It was suggested that the measurement of salivary amylase activity can use as one of objective evaluation method of an acute stress.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
