| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Non-cardiac chest pain (NCCP) is defined as recurring, angina-like, chest pain in patients with normal cardiac workup. In Japan, NCCP attracts less attention than in Europe and U.S., resulting in fewer reports on its actual condition and pathology. This study aimed to survey prevalence of NCCP and consulting behavior of individuals with NCCP in Japan through the implementation of a large-scale epidemiological survey.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
今回の調査でNCCPの有病率を含めた本邦での実態が明らかとなった．胸痛症状があり医療機関を受診した者の中でNCCPの割合は約７割にも及び，そのうち約6割は原因不明と診断されていることが判明した．NCCPのうち約１割は救急外来を受診していることから，実地臨床において非心臓性胸痛の認識を持つことが医療経済の観点からも必要であると考える．
