| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Although many new disease entities of autoimmune bullous disease (AIBD) have recently been recognized, satisfactory immunological diagnostic methods and comprehensive classifications for various AIBDs have not been established.
To identify immunological diagnostics and comprehensive classifications for AIBDs in this study. Our immunological diagnostic method is useful for making diagnoses for
most patients with AIBD. However, we need further improvements including new immunological techniques to establish more satisfactory methods.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
自己免疫性水疱症における抗原抗体解析を通して、診断システムの有用性を検討した。自己抗体の病態への関与はいまだ不明な点はあるものの、これらの研究結果は種々の自己免疫性水疱症における正確な診断および適切な治療の選択に有益であり、治療戦略へ発展に寄与したと考える。
適切な治療を行なうことで、速やかな病勢の改善と、医療費の軽減が得られる。この研究の副次的産物として、新しい構成蛋白が同定されることは、基礎的な細胞生物学の発展にも寄与するもので、行政及び社会への貢献度が高い。難治性の自己免疫性水疱症の治療が改善することは、国民の保健・医療・福祉の向上等についても大いに意義のあるものである。
