| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We conducted a prospective study of IARPD (Implant Assisted Removable Partial Denture) using a 6 mm short implant for patients with mandibular free end defects. Evaluation of patient report outcomes underwent in 16 recruited applicants (6 men, 10 women). After received appropriate IARPD, the evaluation was done and it showed that patient satisfaction and patient's denture assessment(PDA) improved significantly.IARPD with short implants was considered to be an effective treatment.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
下顎遊離端欠損における部分床義歯は遊離端部の沈下により疼痛が生じやすく、義歯も不安定となり、患者のQOLと咀嚼機能は高いとは言えない。遊離端欠損に対してインプラントを埋入し、中間欠損化することで義歯の安定を計るImplant Assisted Removable Partial Denture(IARPD)が臨床応用され始めている。
IARPDにショートインプラントを応用することで、高度吸収症例にも適応が広がり、超高齢社会における多くの部分床義歯患者の咀嚼能力とQOLの向上が見込まれる。また栄養状態が改善され高齢者の健康増進と年々増加している国民医療費の削減に寄与することが期待される。
