| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Friends and romantic couples tend to be similar in a broad range of attributes (personality, age, and race). However, it is not known whether the effects of friends and romantic partners extend to stereotype. Using a longitudinal design, the current project examined whether or not one’s stereotype and attitudes become similar to those of their friends or their spouses over time.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
世界各国で，ステレオタイプ（例．イスラム教徒はテロを起こしやすい」）に基づく差別が問題となり，社会における差別感情の蔓延と拡大が大きな問題になっている。こうした社会背景を踏まえると，差別感情や偏見がどのように社会で広がっていくのかに関する研究が急務と言える。しかし，これまでの社会心理学研究では，実験室内での他者の影響の検討に留まり，「現実の複雑な人間関係の中でステレオタイプや偏見が拡散するのか」に関しては十分に明らかになっていない。本研究はこうした先行研究の限界にアプローチするもので，学術的にも，社会的にもその意義は高いと考える。
