Outline of Final Research Achievements

Since we are establishing the new quantal size measurement system, we found new interaction between lipid and vesicular neurotransmitter transporters.
we show that vesicular neurotransmitter transporters are functionally oligomerized, and their transport activities are regulated by an abundance of specific phospholipid. Our findings indicate a new relationship between vesicular neurotransmitter transporters localization and phospholipid dynamics in the biological membrane.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究で構築した系はこれまで解析のできなかった小胞容量の変化の継時変化を測定できうる系として非常に有用である。また、測定方法の違いに伴い、これまでの既存の方法に比べて粒子サイズが若干多く検出されるという点があるが、非破壊的にサンプルを測定できる点も魅力的である。今後この系を用いることで、これまで不明だった、様々な条件での小胞容量変化の測定にも用いることができ、その汎用性は高い。
