Outline of Final Research Achievements

By immersing matured female in icy water (0℃) for 90 sec and returning them into 25℃ isotonic salt solution, 63% of the treated fish released eggs spontaneously. By fertilizing the obtained eggs with sperm, the resulting offspring developed and hatched normally. Further the offspring showed normal external morphology and ploidy.

近年、メダカは基礎医学や基礎生物学に加え、水産学分野においても重要なモデル動物として種々の実験に利用されている。本研究で開発した氷冷採卵法を用いることで、親魚に接触することなく高効率で未受精卵を採取することが可能となった。これにより各種実験系へと未受精卵を供給するための労力が大幅に簡略化された。また親魚に接触することなく未受精卵を採取できるため、親魚の産卵後の斃死がなく、貴重な親魚から未受精卵を得る際にも有効な方法になりうる。
