Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Blood forming hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are maintained within bone marrow microenvironment, often called niche consisting of bone forming mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC) that secrete various factors. here, we have successfully generated an artificial human bone marrow niche by engrafting human MSCs into mice that can maintain functional human HSCs.
