Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Dairakuji Temple was a place of learning in the area from the late modern period to the early Meiji period, and currently owns a collection of more than 2,000 classic books, including (1) books handed down from generation to generation, (2) books inherited by the current head priest from his father, and (3) books collected by the current head priest. These books cover a wide range of subjects, such as sutras, Japanese mathematics, history, medicine, pharmaceuticals, maps, diplomacy, and literature. This study conducted a bibliographic survey of approximately 500 items in the collection that had not yet been researched. We created a catalog of these items and distributed it to libraries, archives, and other related institutions to clarify their location. By providing a place to access the “actual objects” of literary works including gesaku (popular literature) particularly in the Hokuriku region, this project will contribute to the development of literary research in the future.
