| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We researched on 1) influence of Greek historians (especially, Polybius and Dionysius of Halicarnassus) on the historiographical works of Francois Bauduin, Jean Bodin and La Popeliniere.
2) reflections of contemporary historiographical theories in non-specialist authors such as Montaigne.
3) reappearance of ancient debates concerning Thucydides (Lucian of Samosata, Dionysius of Halicarnassus, Cicero, etc.) in the 16th century.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
ルネサンスの歴史記述論は、狭義の文学研究にとどまらず、修辞学、文献学、道徳哲学、政治学、神学など、さまざまな隣接する分野との相互的な影響のもとに、初めて成り立つものである。本研究では、こうした連関の一端を示すことができた。
また、宗教戦争やそれに伴う王権の動揺といった新たな問題に直面したそれぞれの著作家たちが、いかに過去の文化的な遺産にさかのぼって、課題を再設定し、その解決を模索したかということは、おそらく現代の問題にも示唆を与えうるものに相違ない。
