| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Compared to market strategy, research dealing with non-market strategy has been limited. This research aimed to provide insights into the way companies implement non-market strategy. For this purpose, the Japanese publishing industry was studied.
A key finding of this research is that companies do not emphasize their vested interests in implementing non-market strategy. Rather, they highlight values associated with society such as cultural significance.

企業の果たす役割は、多岐にわたってきており、企業活動について包括的に理解することの意義は高まっていると言えるだろう。企業の活動というと、通常は製品やサービスの提供という観点でのみ考えるという傾向が、広く世の中には行き渡っているように見える。
しかし、企業は製品やサービスを提供するためのルールの策定という点でも、大きな役割を果たしている。この点についての理解の重要性を指摘しているのが本研究である。
