| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study is to examine cultural transmission at the child protection institutions. For this purpose, life history interview was conducted with 11 staff members at the child protection institutions. The examination of cases mentioned above in the lead us to the following findings. First, cultural transmission by staff members at the child protection institutions have an important role in preventing the cycle of poverty. Second, the transformative learning of staff members through family care support contributes to cultural transmission at the child protection institutions.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究の意義は、従来の教育研究で看過されがちであった児童養護施設の文化伝達に着目し、貧困や虐待等を経験した子どもがどのような文化や価値観のもとで生活しているのかを明らかにしたことである。これは施設において、いかにして貧困の再生産の防止が試みされているのかを示すものでもある。次に、職員理解の促進である。文化伝達の担い手である職員がその過程で抱える悩みや葛藤を理解することで、労働条件や専門性の不足といった議論とは異なる視点からの支援が可能となるだろう。
