Outline of Final Research Achievements

Molecular assembled materials that show mechanoresponsive luminescence were developed using amphiphilic copounds with hydrophilic dendritic groups. We discovered that the amphiphiles form one-dimensional supramolecular fibers and change the photoluminescence color in response to mechanical stimuli. It was also found that the emission band obtained through mechanical treatment shows blue- or red shift after exposure to methanol or water vapor. We examined the curious external stimuli-responsive luminescent behavior.
