Outline of Final Research Achievements

This project studies a flexible light emitting device and display. A sheet with cut patterns can resist to stretch by spreading its cut patterns. By patterning electrodes and placing light emitting liquid on such a sheet structure, so-called kirigami structure, we have achieve a flexible light emitting device. The results of this project were presented thorough a patent, a domestic conference, an international conference, and a proceedings paper.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

モノのインターネット(IoT)構想のように人を含む様々な三次元形状を持つ物体にデバイスを装着させたいという要望が高まっている。しかし既存のデバイスは固い基板上に配線、デバイス部を積層させて製作されるものが多く、三次元的な形状には取り付けることができない。本研究ではストレッチャビリティをもつ切り紙構造に着目し、デバイスを三次元形状に取り付ける基盤技術を開発した。本研究では特に三次元形状に取り付けられる発光デバイスを実現した。このデバイスを使えばモノ自体が情報を発信することが可能になる。
