Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Enzymatically hydrolyzable amino acids from marine bacteria were measured to evaluate the importance of bacteria as a bioavailable amino acids source for deposit feeders. The results indicated that progressive addition of bacteria-derived organic matter during degradation may positively or negatively affect the nutritional value of phytoplankton-derived organic matter, depending on the species of colonizing bacteria.
