Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this study, we developed a culture device named generalized isolation chip (gi-chip) in order to cultivate uncultured microorganisms. gi-chip is an instrument capable of separating and culturing microorganisms in a natural environment. By using gi-chip, it has been possible to obtain a large number of new microorganisms with high potential. In addition, two known compounds and one new compound were isolated as anti-leishmania substances from the obtained microorganism.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
