Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We performed in vitro and in vivo experiments to understand the role of retinoic acid signaling in endochondral ossification. Stimulation of RARγ signaling inhibited chondrocyte differentiation. Pharmacological inhibition of RARγ stimulated endochondral ossification both in vitro and in vivo, resulting in enhanced bone formation. Variety of signaling molecules are found to be involved in this process.
