Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The research project investigated how the Walled City (Chang'an cheng and Luoyang cheng) built by the Tang Dynasty had an impact on Walled City in the western region of the Silk Road and East Asian countries (Goguryeo, Bohai, and Japan) based on the analysis of excavated remains. Specifically, the research focused on the analysis of excavated remains and satellite images, and compared the spatial structure of the Walled City. As a result, while practical structures were developed as military bridgeheads in Western Walled Cities, East Asian countries adopted the Walled City as a "royal capital," revealing that the Chinese ideological space centered on the emperor was reproduced.
