Outline of Final Research Achievements |
By using malnourished-human infant fecal microbiota transplanted neonatal pig models, we demonstrated that protein malnutrition hampered the efficacy of an oral attenuated human rotavirus vaccine by altering adaptive and innate immune responses. Our findings on lower level of IL-22 and higher amount of LPS in protein-deficient diet pigs would provide novel insights on intestinal membrane regeneration and possible interactions among nutrition, microbiota and host immunity.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
