Research Abstract

強磁性型単一次元鎖磁石[Mn^<III>_2(saltmen)_2Ni^<II>(pao)_2(L^1)_2](A)_2 (L^1=monodentate ligand such as pyridine, A^-=counter monoanion)は、-NO-を介して反強磁性的にカップリング(J【approximately equal】-20K)した[Mn^<III>-Ni^<II>-Mn^<III>]ユニットがS=3の一軸異方性スピンユニットを誘導し、このユニットがbi-phenolate架橋(-(O_<Ph>)_2-)を介して弱く強磁性的に相互作用(J'【approximately equal】+0.7K)した、J'の相関により解釈される磁化緩和ダイナミクスを発現する(磁化反転エネルギー障壁:L>>ξの時Δ_<SCM1>=8J'S^2+|D|S^2;L≦ξの時Δ_<SCM2>=4J'S^2+|D|S^2。Δ_<SCM>とΔ_<SCM2>は相関長効果)。即ち、ただ一つのJ'により相関される一次元磁性鎖である。しかし、[Mn^<III>_2(5-MeOsaltmen)_2Ni^<II>(pao)_2(bpy)](PF_6)_2は、構造的に上記の単一次元鎖磁石と極めて類似しているが、二種類のMn^<III>-(O_<Ph>)_2-Mn^<III>架橋環境を持つため、J'はJ_1'とJ_2'の二種類存在し、交互一次元鎖を形成している。Mn^<III>周りの配位構造(配位空間)は、両者で非常に似ているが、磁気的な相関長は、わずか2ユニット分(n=2)しかなく、おおよそJ_2'〜0であり、J_1'の相互作用のみ有効なS=3二量体(即ち、n=2の単分子磁石)として振る舞うことが明らかとなった。このとき、もはや磁気的な相関は磁化緩和には関係なく、Δ_<CF>=n|D|S^2の単分子磁石挙動のようになると考えられる。相関の有無については、HF-ESR(High-frequency and high-field ESR)の結果も支持している。この僅かな構造(配位空間)の違い([Mn_2(saltmen)_2]と[Mn_2(5-MeOsaltmen)_2]の架橋構造、及び同様な[Mn_2(5-MeOsaltmen)_2]の二量体構造における磁気的な違い)が単一次元鎖磁石の磁化ダイナミクスに大きく影響を与えていることが明らかとなったばかりでなく、相関の原始n=2の単分子磁石とn【approximately equal】100の単一次元鎖磁石の違いを明確に示すことに成功した。
