Research Abstract

宇宙が137億年前に誕生してから、宇宙のいたるところで超新星爆発が起きてきた。その超新星爆発のエネルギーの99%はニュートリノによって星から運びさられるため、この宇宙の初めからの超新星ニュートリノを捕らえることができれば、宇宙の超新星の歴史を探ることができる。探索の結果、そうしたニュートリノの強度はあまり大きくないことがわかり、ニュートリノ強度の上限値を与えた。また、将来の本格観測に向けて、実際に観測を可能にする方法を確立した。
