Research Abstract |
1.We demonstrated frequency conversion of ultrashort pulses from near infrared to deep ultraviolet by means of high-order stimulated Raman scattering and coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering in hydrogen gas. We obtained sufficient spectral range to achieve the generation of ultimate ultrashort pulse with a few femtosecond duration. We also successfully compressed a sub-50-fs deep ultraviolet ultrashort pulse the spectrum of which was broadened through nonlinear interaction in Raman active medium. 2.We demonstrated that spectral broadening of near ultraviolet ultrashort pulse modulated by coherent rotational motion of molecules excited by transient stimulated Raman scattering. We also proposed that new approach to fill the dip of modulated spectrum using two types of rotational Raman coherence. This provides an 11-fs ultrashort ultraviolet pulse after the appropriate compensation of phase distortion. 3.We developed a novel system for measurement of ultrashort ultraviolet pulses using a m

ultiphoton ionization/mass spectrometer as a detector. This enabled us to successfully measure a deep ultraviolet femtosecond pulse using as nitrogen monoxide and xenon an ionization source. This opens a possibility to analyze behaviors of molecules in extreme ultrafast time region. 4.We demonstrated highly sensitive detection of dioxin compound by means of gas chromatography/multiphoton ionization/mass spectrometry using a light source as ultraviolet femtosecond laser. This enabled us to detect the pentachrorinated dibenzofurans with a limit below 0.1 pg. 5. We generated efficiently three-primary-color laser arising from stimulated Raman scattering and coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering in a multi-pass Raman cell and a hollow-core photonic bandgap fiber and hollow-core capillary waveguide using deuterium and methane as a medium. 6. We investigated continuous-wave generation of stimulated Raman scattering and four-wave mixing in a horrow-core photonic bandgap fiber and despertion compensated high-finesse cavity. We first demonstrated phase-matched continuous-wave four-wave mixing and highly efficient generation of anti-Stokes emission in this approach. Less
