Research Abstract

鞭毛・繊毛の内部は9本の周辺微小管が円筒状に並んだ構造を持ち、縦方向には96nmの繰り返し周期がある。このような構造の形成機構に迫るため、緑藻クラミドモナスを使って、軸糸微小管の結合蛋白質を検索するとともに、構造形成異常変異株の原因遺伝子を決定した。その結果、新規軸糸構成蛋白質10種を発見するとともに、軸糸の9回の対称性の起源に関して重要な知見を得た。
