Research Abstract

植物ウイルスのポティウイルスを用い、「どのように宿主細胞を欺いて優先的にウイルスの遺伝情報を翻訳し、抵抗性(ジーンサイレンシング)を回避するのか」という基本的命題について、VPgタンパク質が「分子擬態」で植物細胞を騙す分子機構を解明した。また、HC-Pro タンパク質が病原性、特に弱毒性に関与していることを証明した。さらに、ポティウイルスのベクター化に用いて成功し、ポティウイルス以外でも感染性クローンの構築に成功した。
