Research Abstract

自然界を作る物質のほとんどは、陽子・中性子と電子である。陽子、中性子はクォークから作られ、クォークは量子色力学(QCD)によって強い相互作用をしている。この強い相互作用によって対称性の自発的破れが起こり、陽子・中性子の質量が生成され、自然界の質量のほとんどを説明する。2008年度ノーベル物理学賞はこの機構を最初に提唱した南部陽一郎に与えられた。強い相互作用による自発的対称性の破れは、解析困難な問題であるが、くりこみ群の方法を用いて生成される質量の理論的な計算を行うことができた。
