Research Abstract

We have developed energy absorption wall having multi-stage destructive mechanism with damage detection and damping function by employing fiber reinforced cementitious composites, which can be visually monitored on damage as well as controlled energy absorption. In addition, we clarified the increasing ductility under damage and maximum-strain-memory capability of high performance alloy, TRIP steel, as well as self-diagnosis and self-instauration. Finally, we have achieved the following research on the development of energy absorption wall, TRIP steel and structural system certainly controlled by health monitoring system.
1. The energy absorption wall having multi-stage destructive mechanism was created by parallel installation of energy absorbed members with fiber reinforced cementitious composites, and the methodology on multi-stage destructive mechanism was developed. In addition, the possibility was experimentally verified and the damage level of cementitious composites was quantifi … More ed.
2. Regarding the damage mechanism of the energy absorption wall having multr-stage destructive mechanism on both material and structural levels, a theoretical study was carried out and the constitutive models were constructed. Finally, the modeling methodology on the restoring force characteristics was theoretically and experimentally developed, and the reliability was verified.
3. In order to clarify the applicability condition of damping function to real buildings, the structural performance of the framing system with damage control structure with self-diagnosis and instauration function was numerically evaluated.
4. In order to clarify the transformation of material-level structure and change of mechanical characteristics as the performance evaluation on the self-diagnosis and instauration mechanism, material experiments were conducted, and the mechanical characteristics and the maximum-strain-memory capability of TRIP steel were quantified.
5. The structural experiments with monitoring systems were carried out and the self-diagnosis characteristics was quantified and verified. In addition, the development of new structural systems employing the high performance alloy and the realization were studied numerically. Less
