Research Abstract

膵臓と胆管の器官分化を決定する分子機構は、まったく不明である。また、糖尿病の再生治療法を開発するためには、膵幹細胞からβ細胞を分化させる必要があるが、分化の制御機構にも不明な点が多い。本研究により、Notchシグナルの標的となる転写因子Hes1が膵臓と胆管の器官分化、および内分泌・外分泌組織を含めた膵幹細胞の分化方向を制御する分子として作用していること、さらに発生期の膵幹細胞にHes1が過剰発現すると糖尿病を発症することが判明した。
